Series Acquires Hendry County Speedway

Late Models take to the track at the southernmost short track in America

The United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series (UDLMCS) has purchased Hendry County Speedway from current operator Chris Ponsoldt. The track will be renamed Hendry County Motorsports Park and a new web site is being put together at www.hendrycountyracing.com.

Gibsonton, Fl.- Just as the season begun back February at Ocala forty-six Late Models lined the pits of East Bay Raceway Park for the final race of 2008 United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series. With just 100 points separating first place Johnny Collins and second place Mark Whitener every step of the nights racing from qualifying all the way to the feature would be critical.

Randy Korte Wins, Smith Steals the Show, and The Locomotive Clinches Championship

Champagne flowed freely at center stage as Johnny Collins was crowned the Champion of the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series for 2008. The Jacksonville driver's 5th place finish at East Bay Raceway Park Saturday night was enough to pad his lead over runner-up Mark Whitener (Middleburg FL) and secure his place as the first champion of the UDLMCS.

Josh Peacock (Dover, FL) won the United Dirt Late Model Rookie of the Year title. Peacock, winner of the last race at East Bay, had a rough night, bringing home the #21P in 17th position.
